Let's Have an Amazing Day...With Essential Oils!

If you are anything like me, you are constantly on the go. Whether that be physically or even mentally. I’m always running on all cylinders and oftentimes find it hard to slow down.

I’ve learned over this past week that taking a few minutes every morning to really set myself up to have an ‘amazing day’ has truly changed me.

At the beginning of the month, we sat down with Christine O’Donnell to discuss all things essential about essential oils and I found out that it’s not just about the oils themselves but how you put them into practice that can really be awakening.

Christine’s business, Wild Heart Essentials sells this trio of oil blends that is aptly named, The Amazing Day Trio, and well being the skeptic that I am, I had to put it to the test. I used this trio every morning, following the ‘amazing day protocol’ Christine provides, for a week and I’m here to tell you how it ultimately made me a happier person.

What are essential oils?

So, what are essential oils anyway? describes essential oils as compounds extracted from plants.

The oils capture the plant's scent and flavor, or “essence.” Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence.

And how can they benefit you? Well here’s just a few ways:

  • Aromatic use is inhaling the scent of essential oils. Often, the body can react to the scent of an oil without your even realizing it. By simply inhaling or diffusing a scent, you can evoke a desired mood or emotion or even recall a childhood memory through the limbic system. Using oils aromatically is an excellent way to reap the benefits of essential oils and positively impact your emotions and mood.

  • Essential oils can also be applied to the skin. This is known as a topical application. To demonstrate how quickly the body metabolizes essential oils, there’s a study conducted with Lavender essential oil. The study tested for linalool and linalyl acetate (the two major constituents of Lavender essential oil) in the blood following a gentle abdominal massage with a 2 percent Lavender/98 percent peanut oil blend. Amounts of both constituents were identified 15 minutes after the beginning of the massage, with the peak occurring at around 30 minutes.

  • The rich, bright aromas of essential oils can add a delicious kick of flavor to your favorite recipes. Try adding a drop or two of Lime to fresh salsa or to your favorite marinade. You might also add Lemon to grilled fish, Peppermint to hot cocoa, or Basil and Oregano to homemade pasta sauce. Get creative and enjoy all the culinary possibilities of essential oils. Using the 'Amazing Day Trio'

In the Amazing Day Trio, Wild Heart Essentials combine or blend different oil essences to create 3 unique scents designed to lighten, brighten, and inflate your mood. The blends themselves smell amazing but what I think is even more amazing is the protocol given to use with these blends.

Each blend corresponds with provoking feelings of gratitude, confidence, and courage, helping you to anchor and ground yourself to legitimately have the most amazing day ever.

Not only do the oils play an important role in this feeling as they remain on your person throughout the day, but they also create this sense of calming with how they are applied, rolling onto your skin, like a tiny little massage.

As I went about my day, I'd get a whiff of the scents and was brought back to the intentions that I set for myself for the day.

Blend No.1

I found that after the first few days, I woke up feeling excited to start my day.

Taking blend no.1 over my heart connecting with joy and optimism and allowing my heart to fill with gratitude as I listed off all the things I was grateful for that morning.

Blend No.2

Using blend no.2 on my palms and wrists, grounding myself, and sending positive affirmations to my mind and body.

My favorite affirmation is, "I am a rockstar mom and I will survive and thrive today!"

Blend No.3

And finally rolling blend no.3 over my neck and firmly setting meaningful intentions for my day, ones that I know will make a difference, such as, today I will belly laugh with my kids.

It was these simple moments every morning that have made this past week more enjoyable. I even introduced my son Westley to the protocol, which he loves. Just breathing in the different scents with big deep breaths (check out our IGTV for the cutest video of Wes and oils).

Final thoughts

Overall, I found that using these oils did in fact lift my mood and put me in a place of ease and contentment when I can so easily be put in a place of stress. Implementing the use of these oils with setting meaningful and mindful intentions has been a game-changer in my day to day life. I challenge you to do the same!
